Taylor: Adopt me!
Taylor is a very cute 6 month old Rat Terrier mix who weighs 19 pounds. This little sprite was surrendered by her former owner because she has been diagnosed with Demodex Mange, a non-contagious and easily treatable form of mange. We will make sure Taylor starts the treatment she needs so she can get on the road to recovery. Taylor has not had much training in her life to teach her how to be a properly behaved pooch. She will need a patient and understanding owner who can teach her simple rules, such as not jumping up on people and not being mouthy. Having a structured environment will definitely help her become a happier and more well-rounded doggie, and also help keep her demodex mange flare-ups at bay. Taylor will make a wonderful canine companion for the right home. www.atlantapetrescue.org

My American Bulldog pup was diagnosed with demodectic mange…?
and I want to help him get better quickly. I am currently using the Amitraz (Mitaban) dips; however, the dip has a very strong odor and I am worried about it damaging his internal organs. I have several questions, and any help would be greatly appreciated.
1.) Are there any home remedies that can be used to cure or help my pup get better sooner? I have read on the internet that applying small amounts of cooking oil will not only help, but may be safer than the Mitaban dip. I have read on another site about using the borax hydrogen peroxide mix. Any recommendations?
2.) He only has about four to six spots that range from semi-bald to thinning hair. All these spots are either on his back, neck, and rump area. He also does not itch or scratch a lot.
3.) What kind of vitamins should I be giving him, if any? He is only five months old right now.
Thanks in advance for any help that you guys/gals may provide.

Best thing to do is to use what your vet gave you and not try an old wives tale that wont work. Ask your vet the questions you are asking on here they know more than strangers online.

La-La
PLEASE READ: La-La is a wonderfu, beautiful, pitbull mix at the Cmberland County S.P.C.A. La-La has a very horrible disease that caused the scar on her neck. This disease is called demodectic mange. It is not contagious to other dogs or humans. To have this type of mange, the dog is normally born with it. In order to get better, she has to go through many treatments. Also, this disease will make her whole body itch. She will scratch so much that she will loose hair and maybe even forget about eating and drinking. Of course, the shelter is working on getting rid of the disease. In order to have this wonderful dog, you must be very patient, loving, and understanding. You can read more in books or on the internet. You can alsoask your local vet. Thanks!!! -Liz and Toni
